A Crocodile’s Woe

A crocodile sat
In the murky water,
thinking to herself,
“How shall I bring up my daughter?
Between the plastic bottles,
and the garbage bags
and sometimes, even the bodies
of dirty old hags.
It hurts us,
to take a single breath.
It makes us feel like
we are on the brink of death.
Our friends,
Mr Seaweed and Miss Coral,
were killed by the poison
and left us sorrowful.
We can’t take this anymore,
after all we have done to help.
You have destroyed our beautiful river
and have left us to rot like kelp.
My poor daughter,
is not born yet,
but when she is born,
all she will see is death.
We, the animals of the river,
cannot do everything by ourselves.
To clean up these waters,
we will need you to volunteer to help yourself.
You humans do not realise,
how many problems pollution does cause
You humans do not realise,
that these are your fatal flaws
If only, you would not act so haughty,
this water would have not been so dirty.
So, let’s all take a pledge,
and clean this mess with earnestness!”
